015 Concerts

In May and June we attended several concerts of sacred choral music. All of the visiting choirs were from the United States. Occasionally, at the end of the concert, some spirituals livened up the performance. All of the concerts were in large churches, usually near our apartment, and free. On May 16th the Virginia Tech University Chamber Singers performed in Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Gesù all’ Argentina. On May 19th the Idaho State University Chamber Choir performed in Chiesa di Sant’ Eustacio. On May 22nd the Asbury University Chorale from Wilmore Kentucky performed in Chiesa di Sant’ Ignazio. On June 10th the Marvin United Methodist Chancel Choir from Tyler Texas and St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church Chancel Choir from Plano Texas performed in the Basilica di Ss. Bonifacio e Alessio. On June 13th the Cor Jesu Academy Choir from St. Louis Missouri performed in Chiesa di Sant’ Ignazio. On June 14th the Georgetown Preparatory Choir from Washington DC performed in Chiesa di Sant’ Ignazio. The last two were award winning high school choirs. There are no concerts scheduled during the summer. So far, there are only a few scheduled for the fall. Hopefully, more will be arranged.

We’re looking forward to a possible concert by the Saint John Vianney Choir who are visiting Rome November 5-11, 2012. Bette was a member of that choir before we left Houston in 2010.
